Business Services in SL1

Business services are non-production activities that support a company’s core business operations. They include marketing, consulting and information technology services. They also include administrative services such as shipping, janitorial and waste management. They are often outsourced to a third-party provider. Business services are important because they allow companies to focus on their core operations and provide customers with more valuable products and services.

Some of the key features of business services are intangibility, inseparability and customer involvement. Intangibility means that a customer cannot touch or see the service, but can experience it through interactions, expertise and knowledge of the service providers. Inseparability means that production of the service and consumption are simultaneous. This is a key difference between goods and services, since goods can be stored for future use while a service must be provided exclusively each time it is needed.

Customer involvement is critical in business services because it can have a major impact on customer satisfaction. This is because customers frequently play a role in the service delivery process, influencing the quality of the service through their participation and feedback. In addition, customer involvement can make the service more personalized and improve overall experience.
